The 5th Annual Bicycle Safety Day took place on Sunday, Sept. 22, noon to 3 p.m.
County Seat Kiwanis and Mineola Bicycle will hosted the event. The day was designed to teach and promote bicycle safety and free to attend.Children can brought their helmets and bicycles to be inspected and adjusted. A skills course was set up for kids to ride their bikes through, and upon completion they received a certificate.
A fire truck will be available for tours from Safety Day-goers and free eye screenings by Dr. Melania Napolitano of Mineola Eye Center. Giveaways and promotions will be available throughout the day.
“It’s about the kids and having fun and being safe,” said Barry Dworkin of Mineola Bicycle. “They’ll got to learn safety while enjoying a nice Sunday outside.”
