Eating Disorder Support Group

The Eating Disorders Association-LI (NEDA-LI) (formerly EDCLI) will be holding a support group for eating disorder sufferers and their families and friends. 10 to 11:30 a.m. at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset (ask at the main reception desk for location within the hospital). This free group takes place on the third Saturday of every month and is facilitated by a trained professional. No reservation necessary. Call NEDA-LI 229-2393.

Asthma Screening Program

During a screening, adults complete a 20-question Life Quality Test. Children under age 15 take a special test called the Kid’s Asthma Check that allows them to answer questions themselves about any breathing problems. Another version of the Check is available for parents of children up to 8 years of age to complete on their child’s behalf. Participants also take a lung function test that involves blowing into a tube, then meet with an allergist to determine if they should seek a thorough examination and diagnosis. Call 866-99-ASTHMA. New York-area allergists, who are asthma specialists, will offer free asthma screenings at the following location: Winthrop University Hospital, 259 First St.
