Mortgage Foreclosure Consultation Clinic

Nassau residents caught in the growing mortgage foreclosure crisis can have questions answered by attorneys at a free clinic sponsored by the Nassau County Bar Association from 4 to 6 p.m. at the NCBA headquarters, 15th and West Sts. Attorneys have volunteered to provide one-on-one guidance, advice and direction to any Nassau County homeowner who is concerned about foreclosure matters or is already in the foreclosure process involving property in Nassau County. Freeport H.S. Class of 1959 50th Reunion

Member of the Freeport High School Class of 1959 have planned a gala weekend to celebrate their 50-year reunion from Sept.11 to 13. Begins Friday night with a meeting at E.B. Elliot’s on the Nautical Mile to renew old acquaintances. Saturday will find the group at Jones Beach Field 6 or at Museum Row riding Nunley’s Carousel once more, in the bleachers at the Freeport vs. Oceanside football game or just riding around the village visiting old haunts. At 7 p.m. converge at the Freeport Yacht Club for dinner and enjoyment of music of the ‘50s. Before starting home on Sunday, groups will meet at local diners for farewells over brunch. Language Classes

Interested in learning the third most popular language studied in the United States? This fall, Mill Neck Services will offer American Sign Language classes at its new Day Habilitation and Interpreter Services building, 501 S. Broadway, Suite A, Hicksville. Within New York State, many school districts now recognize ASL as a “foreign” language, providing credit towards a Regents diploma. Enroll today in the level 1 adult ASL classes, to be held on Mondays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. from Sept. 14 through Nov. 30. As with other languages, the deaf community, in response to cultural and technological change, is constantly introducing new vocabulary. Register today and become a part of this expanding community. Volunteers Needed

The Mill Neck Family of Organizations is seeking volunteers to work at food sales, children’s activities, apple booths and more during the Fall Harvest Festival to be held on Oct. 10 and 11. The outdoor festival, known as “Apple Sale,” features a wide variety of apples and seasonable produce, craft items, a Cheese House, deaf specialty items and much more. Volunteer support from local civic and church groups, students, alumni, staff, parents and faithful supporters, have made this a special and memorable event. Volunteers can work from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 12:30 to 5 p.m. or all day. Food tickets will be provided for all volunteers who work four or more hours. This year, the Mill Neck Family will host a “Kick-Off Breakfast for Volunteers” on Oct. 3 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Deaf Education Center. Open to all 2009 volunteers ages 16 and over, the event will feature a delicious continental breakfast, an orientation and a long-time volunteer recognition ceremony. Have a fond Fall Harvest Memory?
