Julie Falotico is one of Mineola High Schools premiere female athletes. During her four years at Mineola, she has been a three-sport athlete while maintaining academic excellence. An intense competitor, Julie is one of the best defensive players in Conference IV. She averages five assists a game and four steals.
As a sophomore, she received All Conference honors, and last year was voted an All Class Basketball player. Falotico was awarded the Reggie Carter Memorial Award for her exemplary work ethic and strong leadership skills.
Falotico is the high school’s salutatorian with a 98.7 GPA. Julie values education and has always been enthusiastic and excited about learning while being enrolled in vigorous courses.
Falotico is involved in extra curricular activities that revolve around helping those who are in need. She led the Christmas Toy Drive sponsored by Key Club, educated elementary students about living healthy lifestyles as a member of Athletes Helping Athletes and devoted more than 30 hours, immersing herself into the Hunger Project, an in-depth research endeavor surrounding the effects of hunger on Long Island while organizing a food drive.

The Nassau Interim Finance Authority (NIFA) approved funding for Nassau County’s part of a plan to address flood issues in Mineola and Carle Place, officials revealed on May 15. Mineola and North Hempstead’s portion of the three-part Bruce Terrace Flood Remediation Project has been ongoing.

Night on the Town began about eight years ago, when the Church of St. Aidan in Williston Park was looking to raise money. Mineola resident Harry Zapiti stepped in.
He brought the idea to St. Aidan’s board. All Zapiti wanted was the support.

The Mineola Athletic Association’s soccer program will be holding its annual tryouts for their travel soccer teams in early June. Boys and girls in the U10, U11, and U12 age groups are invited to tryouts on Monday, June 3 and Thursday, June 6.
All interested athletes are encouraged to attend both try-out sessions, which will be held at Wilson Park on Field 3 (behind the pool and at the end of Liberty Avenue). For more information on practice times, age qualification, commitment, etc. please visit the MAA Web site at www.mineolaaa.org

Ashley Stavish is a member of the Mineola Girl’s Lacrosse team. Ashley has been a four-year member of the varsity team and is a co-captain. In 2012 she was voted by Nassau County Girls Lacrosse Association to be an All Conference player.
