The Hon. Scott Fairgrieve is on a campaign to seek re-election for a third term to the Nassau County District Court. As a judge with 11 years experience, the Nassau County Bar Association has rated him “well qualified.”
In 2010, he was also given the position of acting county court judge, which covers a felony in County Court. He is the author of many legal opinions, which have been published in the New York Official Reports on Westlaw and New York Law Journal.
Prior to being elected a judge in 2001, Fairgrieve was a practicing attorney on Long Island for 24 years with emphasis on litigation and general practice.
Fairgrieve’s community involvement dates back to 1982, when he was elected to become trustee of the Village of Mineola and held the position up until 1994. His bucket list of involvement and community support goes on to include County Seat Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, chairperson for Jones Manor on the Sound, Nassau County Historical Society, Mineola Fair Committee, coaching baseball and soccer for the Mineola Athletic Association, Speakers Bureau of the Nassau County Court System.
He has also held many lectures at schools on the dangers of drunk driving, was co-founder of the Mineola Mustang Run/Walk in 1981, recipient of awards from Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club and the Ann M. Galante Award for community service, Mineola Chamber of Commerce, Co-Chair Mineola Bicycle Safety Day, New Hyde Park Runners Club, Greater Long Island Running Club and the Long Island Runners Club.
A brunch fundraiser is being held on Sunday, Sept. 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Davenport Press on Main Street in Mineola. Special invited guests include Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman, New York State Assemblyman Charles Lavine, New York State Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel, Nassau County Legislators Judi Bosworth, Robert Troiano, Wayne Wink along with the Master of Ceremonies Gerard Terry, Esq.

Almost everyone has heard the expression; a dog is a man’s best friend. These great animals guard, protect and shower people with their affection and undivided attention. They love unconditionally in good times and in bad. The strength of the bond between man and canine was put on display at the Mineola Library on Saturday, May 11 in JoAnne Raskin’s, ‘War Dogs’ exhibit.

The Nassau Interim Finance Authority (NIFA) approved funding for Nassau County’s part of a plan to address flood issues in Mineola and Carle Place, officials revealed on May 15. Mineola and North Hempstead’s portion of the three-part Bruce Terrace Flood Remediation Project has been ongoing.

The sixth-grade Mineola Chiefs (Maroon) defeated a very tough Garden City on the road 6-4 on May 12. With three players on injured reserved Mineola’s reinforcements played with all heart on Mother’s Day.
The Mineola defense controlled the game. Joe Carr grabbed the rock out of the air on crease slides at least three this game, Zach Koerber stopped ball on fast breaks while defensemen Evan Eberlein and Alex Marchiselli locked down the remaining attack men.

The Wheatley School announced that 15 student athletes have been recognized by Section VIII-Nassau County Interscholastic Athletic Association for their performance in athletics, scholarship and leadership qualities for the Winter 2012-13 season. The Boys Indoor Track team was crowned NYS State Scholar Athlete Team Champions. The Boys Varsity Basketball team won the Nassau County Class B Championship.
