Last Wednesday, Mineola Mayor Jack M. Martins, Deputy Mayor Larry Werther and Trustee Tom Kennedy were all re-elected after running unopposed. As expected, voter turnout was extremely low in the uncontested election.

Mayor Martins collected 476 votes with Trustee Kennedy collecting 451 and Deputy Mayor Werther collecting 434. The three will now serve another two-year term on the board. The other two members of the board - Trustees Paul Cusato and Paul Pereira - have another year left on their terms.

While the board will hold its annual organization night on April 6, it has to begin work immediately on formulating a budget for the 2009-2010 fiscal year, which begins June 1, 2009 and ends May 31, 2010.

The board will hold meetings in public both tonight, March 25 and tomorrow, March 26 at 6:30 p.m. in Mineola Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue.
