The Mineola Village Board of Trustees will be meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at Mineola Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue for a work session at 6:30 p.m. followed by a public meeting at 7:30 p.m.

At this meeting, Mineola resident Bill Urianek is expected to give a donation to Debbie Levi, the mother of Christoper Levi, an Army Ranger who was badly wounded in Iraq.

Corporal Levi, who is from Holbrook, was badly injured when the Humvee he was traveling in was hit by an exploding device in March. Corporal Levi lost both of his legs in the explosion, which also tore away part of his right palm. Fundraising efforts began to raise money to make his family's home handicapped-accessible.

When Urianek found out about Corporal Levi's story, he knew he had to help. Urianek began collecting bottles and cans as well as some donations from generous people and has raised a substantial amount of money.

At tonight's village meeting, Urianek will present a check to Debbie Levi representing all of the money he has collected.

As always, all are welcome to attend the village board meeting.
