The second community meeting of the Mineola Neighborhood Watch will be held tonight, March 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the community center of Mineola Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue, in the east conference room. All residents are encouraged to attend. The Mineola Neighborhood Watch is being organized by Mineola Auxiliary Police Chief Mike Spae with the partnership of the Mineola Auxiliary Police Department, Nassau County Police Department 3rd Precinct and Mineola residents and interested parties.
At the last neighborhood watch meeting, it was stated that there have been five residential burglaries in the village recently. At the Mineola Chamber of Commerce meeting last week, 3rd Precinct Inspector Jim O'Leary said that the five burglaries occurred between the end of January and Feb. 17. "We haven't gotten the guy yet, but it stopped," he said.
The police blotter provided by the 3rd Precinct had burglaries occurring on Bruce Terrace, Fairfield Avenue, Barwick Boulevard, Roosevelt Place and Raff Avenue.
