Giant fans were doubly happy with the victory over the Patriots and the great Superbowl - 1breakfast of the County Seat Kiwanis Club, with sausages provided by Manny Cavalho's fine Portuguese Restaurant Churrasqueira and pancakes from IHOP, it was a grand day. While there we met Paul May, Harry Peters, Pete Owens, Amy Thompson, Tim McCue, Robbin Valentine, Ed Curran, Lois Hanson, Peter Pappagankis, Muriel Delabar, John and Pat Kessler, the Klowski family, John and Jackie Carway, Ray and Virginia Leonhard, Luisa Filipe, Marty and Joy Wyler, Ed Schutz, Sean Hartnet, Steve Parmett, Leslie Kerzner, Helen Minchella, Steve DeFranco, Lou and Pat Santosus, Alice Squeri, Sue Citro, Bonnie Santosus Parente, Kevin, Emma and Kevin Jr. Parente, Scott and Linda Fairgrieve, Greg Nole, John Esposito, Vita and Jim Lombardo, Olivia Esposito, Frank and Mary Guarino, Henry Maslon, Tim and Marilyn Petersen, Don Hammond, Anthony, Yvonne and Anthony Jr., Sinisgalli, Joe DeGiorgio, Ed and Lillian Barnola, Peggy Hassett, Ginny Smith, Antonio, Giona, Jonathan Martins, Vanessa Martins Perri, Tom Perri, Nora Curry, Joyce Gorycki, Mayor Lud and Ursula Odierna. Things went smoothly because the waiters and waitresses were members of the Kiwanis Key Clubs of Mineola and Wheatley High Schools

Margo and Lou Dunninger celebrated their 60th Feb. 22. They have lived on Rudolph Road for the last 48 years and have two children, Lee and Candy and seven grandchildren. Lou is retired from the NYFD and Margo was a Nassau County Court officer.

Donna and Trina Pucci, Patrick O'Gara and Shane and Jayden Bodson lunched at the Jericho Diner. At another table were Vilma and Tom Doherty.

Bill Dinkelacker is a Port Authority police officer with 10 years service with the force. He and his wife, Allison, live on Argyle Road.

Stephanie Ferreira, the hat check girl at the Davenport, is the daughter of Lino and Maria of Houston Street. Lino is the host at the restaurant.

Richie Holecek and his wife, Sandra, live on Mineola Boulevard. They have four children. He works for Grand Auto on Herricks Road. Richie and Sandra will be going to Las Vegas on April 24th to celebrate his 60th.

Glen Morris is with the Highway Department. He and his wife, Josephine, live on Barwick Boulevard and they have five boys, Dave, Mark, Pete, Joe and Glen.

Donna Fronckwicz and Bill Gresalfi were eating at Kiss The Chef on East Second Street. Both are with the Mineola Fire Department.

Peggy Ford has moved back to Mineola and now lives at the Horton House. She is the mother of Steve, president of the Mineola Chamber of Commerce and the owner of Willis Hobbies. Peggy is the widow of Al, founder of the company and longtime treasurer of the chamber.

Ray Haller of the Haller Zaremba Insurance Co. is the new president of the Williston Chamber of Commerce.

Mike Quinn will be the Grand Marshal of the local St. Patrick's Day Parade. The Irish-American Society has again chosen a local person to head the parade. In the past few years, we have had Dennis O'Sullivan, his wife Betty of Williston Park, Jack Whelan of Mineola and now Mike Quinn of Albertson. Mike is president of the Irish Society. He and his wife, Katherine, have three children, Joanne, Michael and Maureen. He came to us 48 years ago from his native County Clare and often returns for a visit. He is an ardent fan of the New York Rangers and goes to the Garden whenever he can. He is a retired banker.

We see the candidates day and night on TV, the newspapers and the Internet. Jay Leno in his segment called "Jay Walking," asks people to identify pictures of those running for office. Nobody could identify Mike Huckabee or Mitt Romney. That's not too bad. But, believe it or not, nobody could say who Hillary or McCain were. Only one of the 10 people he asked got it right; he could identify Barack Obama. When Jay asked what his first name was, the man said, "Bill." As Leno said, "It's pretty discouraging.
