The Subway restaurant, located at 486 Jericho Turnpike in Mineola, was robbed Sunday evening, Jan. 6 at 7:10 p.m. after two masked men entered the restaurant, according to police.

Police said one of the masked men displayed a handgun and the two men made off with $700 from the cash register and a cell phone from an employee who was working at the time.

According to store owner Rakesh Kumar, who has owned the store for a year, a lot of the stores in the area are closed at around that time on a Sunday evening. Subway closed at 8 p.m.

"It gets dark usually after 6 p.m. and it's scary at that time," he said.

Kumar said there were no customers at the store at the time.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Nassau County Police Third Squad at 573-6352.
