On December 20, 2007 Bertram R. Friedman, WWII Naval Veteran, founder of Creative Lighting Fixtures Inc. in Mineola, New York, has passed at the age of 81 while vacationing in St. Martin with his wife Rita Friedman.

Bert was a devoted husband to Rita Friedman and the late Deborah Friedman, the loving father to Marc and Kenneth Friedman, stepfather to Steven, Stacey, and Lisa, Grandfather to Deborah, Brett, Michael, Katy Rose, Matthew, Casie, Jake, Emily, Ana, Cory along with many nieces and nephews. He also employed many and will be missed greatly by all his devoted past and present employees of Creative Lighting.

In April of 1964, Creative Lighting was founded by Bertram R. Friedman and his wife Deborah Friedman; selling primarily to local electricians and homeowners. Bert has been a business owner in Mineola on Jericho Turnpike for over 40 years. Born on August 15, 1926, He was a man who always took care of himself, went to the gym daily, stood tall, smiled, and in 40 years was always dressed impeccably and with style. Bert leaves behind a lasting impression on all who knew him, loved him, and conducted business with him throughout the years.

Bert was a true pillar of the community. Over the past 40 years he employed a countless number of Mineola High School students. He was a strong supporter of education and offered students flexible hours and for some people, what felt like a second home. You didn't have to be related to Bert to feel like family because he found his way into a lot of people's hearts.

Bert was also a member of the Mineola Chamber of Commerce. He believed in supporting the local businesses and community, often making his personal and business purchases in Mineola. At the age of 81, he still made his way into the store everyday making sure things were running smoothly.

In the past few years of his life he made great friends at St Francis Hospital where his family now has set up a contributions fund in lieu of flowers. In loving memory of Bertram R. Friedman, the Congestive Heart Failure Unit at The DeMatteis Centre in St. Francis Hospital is kindly accepting contributions.

Bert has truly creating a lasting impression on all of his family, friends, the community, and Creative Lighting. He will be greatly missed by all.
