Bert leaves behind a lasting impression on all who knew him, loved him, and conducted business with him throughout the years.
Bert was a true pillar of the community. Over the past 40 years he employed a countless number of Mineola High School students. He was a strong supporter of education and offered students flexible hours and for some people, what felt like a second home. You didn't have to be related to Bert to feel like family because he found his way into a lot of people's hearts.
Bert was also a member of the Mineola Chamber of Commerce. He believed in supporting the local businesses and community, often making his personal and business purchases in Mineola. At the age of 81, he still made his way into the store everyday making sure things were running smoothly.
