Village Seeks Injunction Against County
The Village of Mineola obtained a temporary restraining order against Nassau County in the county's proposal to relocate probation department employees from the old Department of Social Services building, located at 101 County Seat Drive, to a parking lot just south of 400 County Seat Drive, which houses the Nassau County Board of Elections and Matrimonial Center, in the court complex in Mineola.

Community Mourns Passing of Isadore Irace
The Village of Mineola lost one of the pillars of the community who contributed greatly to his country and the village when Isadore "Izzy" Irace died on Sept. 25, 2007 at the age of 87. Irace will be remembered as a proud man who gave and commanded respect. He was involved in several organizations in Mineola and served his country during World War II.

The 10-year-old Gold Mineola Chiefs football team has gotten off to a fast 1-0-1 start with a 7-7 tie against the East Rockaway Raiders and a hard fought 20-14 victory over the Hicksville Crusaders.

The Mineola Mustangs varsity football team has come up on the losing end of two hard-fought contests so far this season. In the season opener at Valley Stream North, the Mustangs were outscored 42-28.
