It was at the end of Thursday's meeting of the Mineola Board of Education, when school board trustee Lawrence Carroll said he had an announcement to make. Carroll proceeded to tell what was left of the audience that he was resigning from the school board for personal reasons.

Chiefs 8-Year-old Team Defeats Hempstead
The Mineola Chiefs 8-year-old team defeated Hempstead 13-6 in a hard-fought game last week. Hempstead jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead on a long touchdown run on their first possession, but Mineola answered by methodically driving the ball down the field to tie the score 6-6 on an 8-yard bootleg by quarterback Andrew Sluka.

Mustang Gridiron Alum Capping College Career
As one of three Mineola Mustang football alumni currently playing college ball, James Holubowich seeks to finish his collegiate experience on a high note. Holubowich, a member of the Class of 2004 playoff qualifiers, enters his second season as the starting middle linebacker for the Division III Gettysburg College Bullets of the Centennial Conference.
