No Cause Determined in Getty Station Fire
The Nassau County Fire Marshal's office has not determined the cause of the fire that destroyed the Getty Olympos service station on Jericho Turnpike in Mineola. However, arson has been ruled out.
Village to Hold Hearing on Flood Insurance
On the morning of July 18, Long Island suffered a torrential rainstorm that caused some homes in the Village of Mineola to be flooded. Water poured into the basements of some homes such as those near the county recharge basin in Mineola Memorial Park, causing damage to items that were valuable to the homeowners.

Entering her inaugural year as varsity soccer coach at her alma mater, Katherine Hock could never have scripted the drama of the 2006 season. The Lady Mustangs, after being slighted in the conference alignments, went on to become conference champions and put a fright into Garden City by nearly pulling off an upset in the first round of the playoffs. Hock earned coach of the year for her efforts, the team as a whole was scholar-athlete award winners and a number of players were recognized with all-conference honors.
