Village Board to Discuss Reassessment at Tonight's Meeting
The Mineola Village Board is expected to discuss its possible plan to reassess all the properties in the village as part of the process to adopt the Homestead Exception, which would allow the budget to have two tax rates - one for commercial properties and one for residential properties.

Crown Jewels of Mineola's Soccer Leave Their Mark
Mineola High School boys soccer coach Paul Pereira knew years ago that he had something special in the pipeline when he saw Michael Marques and Gustavo Dias, just barely out of elementary school, play at the now-defunct Mineola Summer Sports Program. Doing the math, he would comment to junior varsity coach Al Cavalluzzo how the 2004 to 2006 seasons looked promising. He never, however, dared to dream that Marques and Dias, along with a tremendously talented supporting cast would put Mineola soccer on the map again three decades after the likes of Manny Matos had first brought glory to Mineola soccer.
