Residents to Vote on School Budget May 15
Residents of the Mineola School District will go to the polls on Tuesday, May 15 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. to vote on the proposed 2007-2008 school budget for the Mineola School District. The budget represents a 5.46 percent spending increase and a 4.7 percent increase in the tax levy, which is the amount of the budget to be raised by taxes.

Spring Track Teams Blend Veterans With New Blood
Mineola Mustang girls track team coach Kerry Cordova stepped in for new mom Kristin Frazer last fall to lead the ladies track program on a gradual upswing through the ranks of Nassau County and New York State track success. This spring, Cordova takes full control of the development of last year's second place division finish. With a slew of returning winter track stars to deepen her bench, the team will compete for county dominance and state recognition.

The Cubs, led by the strong pitching and hitting of Scotty Rivera, got back in the win column with an impressive 7-5 win over the Indians Tuesday night. Rivera pitched three solid innings striking out seven while allowing only one run. At the plate, Rivera was equally superb with a towering two-run home run over the left field fence in the fourth inning. The homerun highlighted a four-run third inning rally, which erased a 1-0 Cubs deficit.
