Richard F. Raad, 90, a 57-year resident of Mineola, died on April 21, 2007. He was drafted into the 1st Armored Division, 6th Armored Infantry in 1941. He fought against Rommel in Algeria and Tunisia between 1942 and 1943 and the Germans in Anzio, Italy from 1943 to 1944. He was reassigned to the 71st Infantry Division which fought in Germany and Austria until 1945. He received six Bronze Stars. He worked at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel from 1950 to 1955 and was the food services director at Long Beach Hospital retiring in 1980. Husband of the late Charlotte T. Father of Richard F. Jr., Thomas, James, John, Joseph and Donald. Father-in-law of Mary, Janet, Judy, Doreen, Deborah and Patricia. Grandfather of 13. Great-grandfather of one. Arrangements were made by the Cassidy Funeral Home, Mineola. Funeral Mass at Corpus Christi RC Church. Interment Calverton National Cemetery. Dorothea A. Moran, a 58-year resident of Mineola, died on April 22, 2007. Wife of the late Francis. Mother of Eileen Dowling, Patricia Moran and Nancy Stampfer (John).
