  • News: Village to Consider Incentive Program for MVAC

    Tonight at Mineola Village Hall, 155 Washington Avenue, there will be a hearing on an incentive program for members of the Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps (MVAC). The program, would essentially allocate monies in future budgets to pay for a pension for members of MVAC who qualify. FULL STORY

  • News: Mineola Citibank Robbed

    On Thursday, April 12, Citibank, located at 199 East 2nd Street was robbed and now police are searching for a suspect who is also wanted for three other bank robberies. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Mustangs Softball Team Faces Tough Opposition

    When the 2007 schedule was provided to second year Mineola High School girls softball team head coach Gerard Armengau, he looked forward to the team's competitive schedule. Scrimmages against the second and sixth ranked teams in Nassau County from Long Beach and West Hempstead were followed by non-league games against top ranked Seaford as well as Hicksville and Mepham. If nothing else, the Lady Mustangs will be battle tested when the Conference IV season takes hold in mid-April. The girls will seek to improve on last year's disappointment, as the new conference alignment should provide a better competitive balance. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Mineola Baseball Team Looks for Consistency

    As one of the most decorated Mustangs in program history, Mineola High School varsity baseball coach Helms Bohringer has established a successful reputation for Mineola baseball. This year's squad looks to qualify for the playoffs for the ninth time in Bohringer's 12 years at the helm. A talented group of juniors will gel with seven veteran seniors in an attempt to improve on last year's 10-6 record in Conference VI. The competition is expected to be fierce with the Valley Stream South Falcons joining the conference and the Roosevelt Roughriders moving on. If all goes according to plan, Bohringer will seek his third conference championship as an added bonus. FULL STORY
