(The following letter was addressed to Mineola Superintendent of Schools Dr. Larry Licopoli. It is being printed at the author's request. It relates to the school district televising its public meeting on the village's cable channels.)
Another couple of weeks have passed, and the taxpayers are waiting to hear from the school board on televising the meetings.
If I didn't know any better, I might think you're stalling, perhaps long enough to make sure the dust has settled on some very big upcoming issues.
There is absolutely no reason for the "broadcast" to be delayed another meeting. There are literally thousands of taxpaying households in our village, but yet only a few dozen residents can actually "sit in" and get information.
In light of the recent abuse of our schools' funds and the recent findings of the comptroller, I believe that leaving those thousands of residents "in the dark" is inexcuseable.
As far as "matching the district's technology to the village's technology" allow me to enlighten you- it's a VCR. I'm certain that someone in the district might actually have experience with one.
If not, I'm a certified low voltage technician as you know with many years experience installing all types of audio/video systems. I will gladly offer my time to expedite this project as soon as possible, at no cost to my fellow residents.
