  • News: The New Line Party Candidates for March 20

    On March 20, residents of the Village of Mineola will decide whether they like the direction Mineola is going in. With the mayor's position as well as two trustee positions up for election, Mayor Jack M. Martins and Trustees Larry Werther and John DaVanzo are all running for re-election, hoping residents will give them a vote of confidence in the job they have done. FULL STORY

  • News: The Hometown Party Candidates for March 20

    On March 20, the Hometown Party will be asking residents of the village to change the leadership of village government. Trustee Linda Fairgrieve is running for mayor and Peggy May is running for trustee on the Hometown Party line. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Mineola Wrestlers Host County Championship

    The Mineola Mustang wrestling team finished up their year in style by hosting the Division II Nassau County Championship. Although the team was very young, they had a successful tournament and year. With only two juniors and four seniors on the squad, the team managed to win six matches while losing 10. The freshman and sophomores really had to step it up to make the year as successful as it was. With 14 of the 18 total boys returning next year and an excellent middle school wrestler who will join them, next year looks promising. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Lady Mustang Keglers Make Impact

    Mineola Girls Varsity Bowling Coach Val Liese knew her team would face an uphill battle in their quest to return to the Nassau County playoffs in 2007. Finishing in second place in the conference and among the top 16 to qualify for the county post-season last year, the Lady Mustangs had to face defending county champion Sewanhaka in head-to-head matches in Conference II again this season. Other than a repeat performance by All-County captain, senior Danielle Rivera, and a return to the playoff round of 16, everything else was pure supposition. When the regular season ended, the Girls defied expectations. Strong conference competition and an 8-4 record improved Mineola's playoff standing two places from last year and Rivera's dominance led the way. FULL STORY
