Mike and Nancy Foresto opened their men's shop 66 years ago. Today it is run by their son Dominick. Nancy, a widow now, was born in Mineola. She was baptized and married at Corpus Christi and still attends Mass at that church.

The importance of the Jericho Diner was shown when both Maureen O'Connell and Craig Johnson stood inside the lobby greeting diners [not at the same time, of course]. I guess the candidates for state senate knew where the action lay.

Congrats to Tom DiNapoli on his appointment as the NY State Comptroller. We have known Tom since he was a 17-year-old kid at MHS. When he was 18 he ran for the school board and was elected, being the youngest person ever elected to that position in the US. Three years later he was president of the board. He was a great assemblyman and well deserves his new post.

The George Washington Manor has a grand celebration of the birthday of our first president. A wonderful dinner, fifers and drummers dressed as Colonial Soldiers played throughout the evening. Owner Bob Murphy gave a talk about Washington. Our first president stopped at the Manor in April of 1791 for breakfast.
