The Corpus Christi seventh grade girlís basketball team ended its season in fine fashion by winning the annual St. Vincent DePaul basketball tournament. The girls were undefeated in winning all three games over the weekends of January 20 and 27.

The championship game had the Corpus girls once again facing Our Lady of Victory. After a very tight first half, Corpus Christi held on to a slim two point lead. But in the second half, the girls showed their superior speed and ball handling and cruised to a dominating 47ñ27 win to the delight of their fans.
By playing the tournament with only eight girls, it took a true team effort to pull off the win. The leading point scorers in the tournament for Corpus Christi were Caitlin Kennedy with 38, Tiffany Klein with 30, Amanda Fucci with 26 and Erin Etherson with 19. Christie Joyce and Rachel Montanez provided the muscle grabbing a ton of rebounds and solid defensive efforts in all three games, while Melissa Mastoridis and Alicia Mercurio dazzled everyone with their speed. As a team the girls shot an incredible 55 percent from the free throw line.
Congratulations!
