In front of approximately 100 of the party's faithful supporters, New Line Party Chairman Walter Hobbs cited the many accomplishments of the Martins administration as reason for the nomination. Among the many accomplishments mentioned were Martins' open government policies including a Mineola television channel and website, restoration of fiscal responsibility and his championing of many causes against the likes of the county and its land sale proposal and waste management. Hobbs also cited the renewed sense of enthusiasm felt by both the residential and business communities that is directly attributed to Martins' stewardship of Mineola.
Martins stated that he was grateful to the many friends and neighbors who came out to support their nomination, noting that the village is better today than it was just four years ago. "None of the accomplishments and positive change over the past four years would have been possible without Larry and John. It's been a true team effort," he said.
Mayor Martins thanked the members of the New Line Party for placing confidence in him. "I am honored by the nomination of the New Line Party," he said. "I try to be the mayor of all people in the community, no matter what their affiliation. We must continue to work as a team, regardless of party affiliation, to maintain our suburban quality of life and make Mineola the best that it can be. We must put Mineola first and foremost - ahead of personal agendas and ahead of politics. This is our home, our residents deserve nothing less," he said.
