The Mineola School community would like to congratulate Robert Maloney and Lauren Mobyed for being awarded the Physical Education Students of the Year award. Lauren and Rob were presented with this honor on Monday, Dec. 11 at the Crest Hollow Country Club. As school leaders both students are dedicated scholars and athletes. In addition they both belong to several clubs and organizations that contribute to the community.
Lauren holds a 90 average while taking all advanced classes in addition to running track and playing lacrosse. She volunteers her time at New York Hospital in Queens, PAL Lacrosse and local field days for area children.
Robert is also a tri-season athlete at Mineola as he participates in football, winter track and baseball. He is a member of SADD, Mineola Red Cross, Latin Club, Athlete Helping Athletes and student government. Robert is also a member of the "Jump Start" program, which has raised over $70,000 to date for the neo-natal unit at Mercy Hospital.
Robert has not decided what school he will be attending in the fall while Lauren has decided to attend George Washington University.
