This Sunday, Nov. 19, the village's biggest fundraiser, the Mineola Mustang Run, will take place. In this, the village's centennial year, it is appropriate that the Mustang Run would draw the most participants and funds it ever has and it is scheduled to do so.

Mineola Ambulance Corps President Patrick Tobin, Mustang Run Chairperson Linda Fairgrieve and Mineola Chamber of Commerce President Steve Ford hold up this year's shirt, which will be given to all participants and volunteers.

The 22nd annual run will take place at 9 a.m. beginning with the one-mile fun run. The 5K (3.1-mile) run/walk will kick off at 10 a.m. Check-in will be at Mineola Middle School, 200 Emory Road in Mineola, beginning at 8 a.m. Participants are encouraged to check in early and receive their numbers and shirts.
Proceeds for the run will benefit the Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Mineola Athletic Association, Mineola Police Athletic League, Mineola Auxiliary Police, Mineola Fire Department for life-saving equipment, the Mineola Historical Society, Mineola Youth and Family Services, Cancer Center for Kids at Winthrop-University Hospital and the Parent and Child Education Program Inc. (PACE).
The Mineola Mustang Run would not be possible without the hard work of many volunteers. The Mustang Run Committee, headed by chairperson Linda Fairgrieve, is still looking for volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering to help keep the runners and walkers safe, especially the children, during the run, call Linda at 294-5914.
In addition to helping the community, volunteers as well as runners and walkers will receive a shirt commemorating the run and the village's centennial celebration. Also, you can help yourself to a myriad of refreshments courtesy of local merchants.
Following the runs, there will be a raffle for a bicycle and a color television as well as trophy presentations.
The Mustang Run/Walk will take place on November 19, rain or shine.
