On Sunday, November 19, the 22nd annual Mineola Mustang Run/Walk will be starting from Mineola Middle School on Emory Road. The one mile run/walk will be held at 9 a.m. and the 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk will be at held at 10 a.m. Among the organizations to benefit from this year's event will be the Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Mineola Athletic Association, Mineola Police Athletic League, Mineola Auxiliary Police, Mineola Fire Department (for life-saving equipment), Mineola Historical Society, Mineola Youth and Family Services, Cancer Center for Kids at Winthrop-University Hospital and Parent and Child Education Program Inc. (PACE).

Volunteers are needed to stand at street corners to make sure that the participants (especially children) are not hit by vehicles. All volunteers will receive a special free long-sleeve shirt commemorating Mineola's 100-year anniversary. To volunteer or to receive an application, call Linda Fairgrieve at 294-5914.
