A Blast for the Past
Village officials and residents who have an interest in the history of the Village of Mineola gathered on Jericho Turnpike in front of the old village hall for the unveiling of the time capsule that was buried during the village's Diamond Jubilee in 1981.
Cross Country Destined for New Heights
Kristin Frazer enters her fifth year as Mineola Varsity Cross Country Coach with high expectations placed on her runners. Assuming a dormant track program at the beginning of the decade, the girls team has made enormous strides in only four years. The girls finished third in their division and fifth within the conference in 2005, qualifying the team for the season ending county championships. While the boys program has not seen as quick an ascent, good things are anticipated from a talented group of dedicated individuals. In total, Mineola's track program is back on the Long Island map.
Girls Soccer Building a Future
Katherine Hock knows what hard work and dedication can accomplish. As one of the most decorated female student-athletes in Mineola High School history and a four year All-American at Adelphi, Hock takes the helm of girls soccer with designs on rebuilding a program in her inaugural season at her alma mater. Katherine inherits a fresh team with many new faces determined to build a solid soccer foundation. While expectations may be tempered, emphasis on development is a priority. With a record of success in her resumé (including an NCAA National Championship), there is no doubt that Girls Soccer has a bright future under her direction.
