A man was held up and robbed of money and a cell phone while on Main Street in Mineola, according to police.
On Friday, Sept. 1 at 11:05 a.m., a man was walking southbound on Main Street when he was approached by another man, described to be in his 20s, Hispanic, 5'8'' tall with a medium build, according to police.
Police said the assailant pointed a hypodermic needle at the victim and demanded his cellular pone and cash. The victim complied and the suspect fled eastbound on Third Street, entering a red vehicle that fled the scene, police said.

The Hudson Street Diner on the corner of East 2nd Street and Hudson Street was broken into between Saturday afternoon, Aug. 19 and Monday morning, Aug. 21.
The diner was entered through the window of the front door, which was broken. Items removed included the cash register, fax machine and the device to swipe credit cards.
The fax machine and credit card swiper were later found on nearby Union Street and returned to the diner.
Following a pursuit by police, a man was arrested in Mineola after he allegedly abandoned a stolen vehicle on Tuesday, Aug. 22.
According to Inspector Robert Turk, commanding officer of the Nassau County Third Precinct, police received a call for an automobile accident on Glen Cove Road and Jericho Turnpike. When the officers responded to the scene, they discovered that the driver of one of the vehicles, which was a 1999 Ford sedan, was leaving the scene of the accident, leaving the car with a passenger in it, according to Inspector Turk.
The car was later found to be a vehicle that was stolen in Suffolk County. According to Inspector Turk, the suspect began running on foot. Nassau Police involved eight of its cars as well as the K-9 Unit, the Air Bureau and the Bureau of Special Operations. Police searched for over an hour.
Inspector Turk said the suspect had some cuts and lacerations from the auto accident and broke into a garage, which was not attached to a house, off Dow Avenue, and did some criminal mischief inside the garage. The inspector said the suspect changed his appearance and cleaned up his cuts and then jumped over a fence and broke into a house, committing a burglary there.
Police arrested the man coming out of the house on Westbury Avenue. The suspect arrested was a 37-year-old man from Lindenhurst. He was charged with possession of stolen property, criminal mischief, burglary and leaving the scene of an accident.
