Biggest Parade in Mineola's History Set for October 1
The biggest parade in Mineola's history will take place Oct. 1. The Centennial Parade already has 80 marching units. The marchers include Corpus Christi School and Church; the Albertson VFW; the Hampton Street School; the MHS Marching Band; the Portuguese Lions Club; The Irish American Society; Salvation Army; Mineola Chamber of Commerce; St. Andrews Episcopal Church; Mineola Library; Catholic Daughters; a show mobile of the Town of North Hempstead; Rough Rider Cavalry; the Fire Departments; Leisure Club; Village of Williston Park; Winthrop Hospital; Chaminade; American Legion; Village of Hempstead; Cross Street School; Presbyterian Church; Lutheran Church; Italian American Society and police horses.
Williston Park Street Fair Set for Sept. 17
The Annual Williston Park Street Fair is set for Sept. 17. The fair sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of the Willistons will take place between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Willis Avenue and Nassau Boulevard in Williston Park.
Future Stars Sports Camps
SUNY Old Westbury is currently accepting enrollment for the 2006 summer season. There are 11 specialty camps for children 4 to 14 in tennis, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, softball, swimming, volleyball, multi-sports, circus arts, magic and Little Stars Camp for 4 to 6-year-olds. Mineola Runners and Walkers Invited to Oyster Fest 5K Run
Runners, walkers and wheelchair athletes from Mineola and surrounding communities are invited to join on Oct. 14 and accept the challenge of the Oyster Bay Town Supervisor's Oyster Festival 5 Kilometer Run. The Run will start promptly at 9 a.m. on the morning of the 14th.
