Board of Trustees Rejects Bids for Police Study
The Village of Mineola Board of Trustees voted to reject the bids for a study to look into whether it's feasible for the village to have its own police department. Mayor Jack M. Martins said residents will decide whether the village will have its own police department through a referendum this year.

Village Board Grants Verizon Cable Franchise
Residents will have a choice between providers when it comes to cable television. Last Wednesday, the Village of Mineola Board of Trustees voted unanimously to grant a cable television franchise agreement to Verizon. Cablevision, which has long been the sole provider of television in the village, will now have competition from Verizon for television subscriptions from residents and businesses.

Mineola Pool Family Fun Night
On Saturday, July 29, the Mineola Pool hosted its second Family Fun Night of the summer. A great night of dancing and swimming was had by all. The pool staff would like to thank Ron from DJ Metro Entertainment for the great music all night. Be sure not to miss the last Family Fun Night of the summer on August 19 from 8 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.
