On Saturday, July 15, the Mineola Community Pool resumed its regular hours, reinstating the Early Bird Swim from 8 - 9:45 a.m. for all those 18 years of age and older and its 9 a.m. Aquasize classes Tuesday through Friday. FULL STORY

You could tell it was summer by the looks of the attendance at last week's Mineola Board of Education meeting. Only a handful of residents attended the meeting, a quiet and brief session, who saw the board of education welcome the new principal of the Jackson Avenue School and authorize the 2006-2007 base salary increase for the district's confidential staff as per work agreements. The Children's Orchestra Society (COS) will be performing two free summer concerts in August. On Monday, August 14 at 7:30 p.m., COS presents its Faculty Brass and Friends at the Mary Jane Davies Green in Manhasset. The COS Faculty Brass and Friends will be showcasing the music of Bernstein, Host, Schmidt and more. The COS Faculty are a respected, dedicated group of teachers with active performing careers.
