MVAC Keeps Most Calls in Mineola --
At last Wednesday's Village of Mineola Board of Trustees meeting, Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps (MVAC) Commissioner Ken Sokolsky appeared in front of the village board to set the record straight about the ambulance corps. In response to a resident's concerns about the corps answering calls in Garden City, Sokolsky wanted it to be known that Mineola comes first when it comes to answering calls.

Booster Club Holds Dinner to Honor Student-Athletes --
The Mineola Athletic Booster Club held its annual dinner to honor the varsity athletes who participated in Mineola's athletic program during the 2005-2006 school year. In the elegant setting of the Jericho Terrace, there was a lot to celebrate as the Mustangs put together a memorable year from individual accomplishments to the accomplishments of the teams.

Mustangs Compete in County Track Meet
Mineola High School's track and field teams competed in the Nassau County Championships and did very well for themselves. In fact, senior Samantha Hegmann won a county championship in two individual events.

Wheatley Tennis Completes Undefeated Season
Under the guidance and leadership of coach Mo Schneider, the Wheatley Boys Varsity tennis team completed an undefeated season and captured its Division and Conference titles. The team completed its regular season with a record of 12-0 to win its division championship and qualify for the conference playoffs. In the semi-final match, Wheatley hosted Oceanside and defeated the "Sailors" by a score of 6-1 to advance to the Championship match against Bellmore Kennedy High School. Playing without their numbers two and three singles players, Wheatley maintained its perfect season with a 4-3 victory in the title match.
