School Budget Hearing to Be Held Thursday
Residents of the Mineola School District will vote on the proposed budget for the 2006-2007 school year on May 16, but before that, the board of education will hold a budget hearing on Thursday, May 4 at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of the Willis Avenue School.

Village Has Budget for 2006-2007
The Village of Mineola has a budget for the fiscal year 2006-2007, which will go into effect from June 1, 2006 to May 31, 2007. The budget was passed by Mayor Jack M. Martins, Deputy Mayor Larry Werther and Trustee John DaVanzo. Trustees Linda Fairgrieve and Paul Cusato chose to abstain on the vote.

Bikers for Babies Ride May 21 to Benefit the March of Dimes
On Sunday, May 21 an estimated 2,000 motorcyclists will join Dee Snider (radio personality and lead singer of the Twisted Sister) and the March of Dimes in the fight against premature birth at Dee Snider's 4th Annual Bikers for Babies Ride. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale and the bikers will hit the open road at 11 a.m. The route is as follows: Meadowbrook Parkway south to Ocean Parkway east; Ocean Parkway east to Robert Moses Causeway north; Robert Moses Causeway north to Long Island Expressway east; Long Island Expressway east to North Ocean Avenue. The ride will culminate at the Town of Brookhaven's Town Hall, located at One Independence Hill in Farmingville.
