During the winter, the girls and boys at Charles Water Karate & Fitness, located at 122 Hillside Avenue in Williston Park, spent three days and three hours at Boot Camp, which included a creative form tournament and a team sparring tournament with all the students working together. The winning team received trophies.

Then there was the physical prowess demonstrated by all. In a course of three days, everyone did a total of 150 squat hops, 1,000 jumping jacks, 2,000 pushups, 100 gut busters, 1,000 kicks and 2,000 crunches.

The students who completed the boot camp included:

Manny DeMatos, Michael Anastacio, John Theotokas and Kimberly Sparacino of Mineola, as well as, Alessia Siracusano and Sarah Frey of East Williston.
