It's Hometown Party in Village Election
Party Successfully Campaigns on Police Department Issue -- Linda Fairgrieve and Paul Cusato of the Hometown Party were victorious in last week's village election and will serve another two-year term on the Village of Mineola Board of Trustees. Fairgrieve collected 1,249 votes; Cusato collected 1,222; newcomer George Durham of the Generation Party collected 858 and newcomer Nancy Portoghese Bauer of the Community Party collected 730.

Board Looks at Possibility of Outsourcing Transportation
Sports, Music Safe for Now -- The Mineola Board of Education continued its discussion of the 2006-2007 budget on Thursday. The board and the district are working to present to the public but are also seeking ways to cut the budget in case it should fail and the board is forced to adopt a contingency budget.

Mustangs Spring Preview
While we all may be anxiously awaiting the arrival of spring and warmer weather that will allow us to get into the garden, athletes have already made the transition. The Mineola High School spring sports teams have taken advantage of the dry, albeit chilly, weather to get their practice time in for the soon-to-arrive season.
