The Mineola Intermodal Center is on schedule for a summer opening.

The Mineola Intermodal Center, which is being built on the south side of the railroad track in the vicinity of Third Street between Third and Fourth Avenues and north of Old Country Road in Mineola, is beginning to take shape.
The project, which is being sponsored by the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) and Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) is worth $23 million and will feature a four-story parking garage, which will house 955 cars as well as a bus depot for eight buses.
According to information found in the website of Clarke Caton Hintz, the architects for the project, the garage façade is composed of brick and pre-cast concrete elements along with decorative pre-cast concrete pilasters with tile inserts to match the nearby Mineola Boulevard Bridge. Each of the stair towers and the elevator will be clad in aluminum panels and clear glass. The same aluminum and glass aesthetic will be utilized for an enclosed pedestrian bridge, which will be constructed to connect the garage, Mineola train station platforms and the ground level.
Of the 955 spaces in the Intermodal Center, 705 are for public parking and 250 spaces are necessary to support adjacent private office buildings.
