The death of Father Tom Murphy, although expected, still hurt. Father Tom's first assignment was Corpus Christi and although he had served many other parishes over the years, his heart was always here in Mineola. His dying wish was that the funeral Mass be at Corpus Christi. Some of those at the wake were Dr. Frank Johnson, Bill and Ruth Delventhal, Dennis and Jane O'Sullivan, Kitty Connors, Charlie and Marie Ribando, Teddy McCormack and Marge Kehoe. The concelebrated Mass was presided over by Bishop William Murphy.

A hale and hearty man who was formerly a heavy equipment operator for NY State, gets the same answer wherever he applies, "We will let you know." But he never hears anything more. Age discrimination is against the law but, of course, there are many ways around it. Jim's number is 873-0739.

After playing it back a number of times, I at least got his first name was Michael and that his daughter or granddaughter named Mikaela had won a scholarship to a leading college.

I have heard of some strange names for restaurants, but the Rome eatery, called the Morgue, takes the prize. Its bare walls and lack of ambience give it the name. Well at least you remember it.
