At one time, John Jackson held the second highest administrative position in the Mineola School District, but on Thursday, he stood solemnly in front of William C. Donnino of Nassau County Court as the judge handed down a sentence of five years probation and 90 days in jail for bribe receiving and official misconduct, which Jackson pled guilty to in October.

The Mineola High School varsity boys basketball team in about to step into its conference season. This season looks to be very interesting; we have a lot of new faces from a year ago. Our returning players include co-captains, seniors Nelson Lopes, Mike Santopetro and John Cloghessy along with seniors Claudio Saavedra and Chris Lang. Cloghessy has been chosen to wear the number 35 jersey in honor of the late Reggie Carter.

Scholarships Established to Honor Coach's Children
Two months ago, the beloved Wheatley School tennis coach, Mo Schneider, experienced the tragic and untimely death of his daughter, Jill. She was the victim of a traffic accident, and incredibly, this is the second child that Mo has lost. A son, Joe, died tragically more than 30 years ago.
