Mayor Martins Appointed to Statewide Mayors' Legislative Committee
Mineola Mayor Jack M. Martins has been appointed legislative representative for the Finance Policy Committee of the New York State Conference of Mayors' (NYCOM) Legislative Committee. The appointment was made by Mayor Frank Pagano of the Village of Fredonia, president of the Conference of Mayors.

A task force appointed by Mineola Mayor Jack M. Martins to determine if it is feasible for the village to have its own police force presented its report to the village board last Wednesday and the verdict is that it is both legal and economically feasible for the Village of Mineola to have its own police force.

The Mineola High School Cross Country team experienced something new. The year started with the largest contingent to come for the sport since it was reinstated and perhaps ever. Both the boys and the girls improved in ways that coach Kristin Frazer applauded.

Mineola Mustangs Are Long Island Champs
The Mineola High School varsity soccer team just continues to spread the Mustang gospel far and wide. After grabbing its first-ever Nassau County championship, Mineola went on to win the Long Island championship by rallying to beat Shoreham-Wading River from Suffolk County on a warm and sunny Sunday at Hofstra Stadium 2-1. The win earned Mineola a trip to the State Class-A semi-finals at the Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta on Saturday, Nov. 19.
