Suozzi, Peterson Vie for Nassau County Executive
Four years ago, Nassau County was in a fiscal crisis. The county's bond rating was just above junk bond status; the Maxwell School of Public Affairs at Syracuse University rated Nassau as the worst run county in the nation; the Nassau Interim Finance Authority (NIFA), the state appointed fiscal oversight board, was looming over the heads of Nassau officials and the county was broke.

The Race for County Comptroller: Weitzman vs. Clavin
Don Clavin is hoping to use the experience he has gained as Hempstead Town receiver of taxes to serve Nassau County as comptroller. He says he wants to unseat current comptroller Howard Weitzman in this November's race because "Nassau County needs an independent taxpayer watchdog, not a 'yes man' to the county's administration."

On last Sunday the Mineola PAL Chiefs rode their team bus to Newbridge Road Park to take on the Bellmore Braves in a Nassau County youth football game.

Mustangs Make Playoffs, Win First Round
The Mineola boys varsity soccer team earned itself a trip to the playoffs. The Mustangs finished with a record of 8-3-1, good for third place in Conference ABC-II. Westbury, with whom Mineola split its two games, finished first, while Roslyn was second.
