The centennial parade to be held next year, Mineola's 100th, will feature one car from each decade. A model T Ford from 1906-10 period, perhaps a Franklin from 1910-20 and down through the years.

Tom and Marge Clark of Elderberry Road dined at Villa Margherita. They formerly owned a pest control business.

You know where the Starbuck's name came from? In Moby Dick Captain Ahab's first mate was Starbuck.

Adam Bonini had breakfast at the Jericho Diner. He works for the makers of precision instruments. Adam is the husband of the former Luanne Seewaldt, daughter of Robert and Cathy owners of Robert's Men's Wear.

Sorry to learn of the death of Henry (Chip) Chippendale, longtime Mineola photographer.

This lady is full of surprises. Nancy Portoghese president of the local Republican Club and leading light of the Chamber of Commerce is also a former model, ballet dancer and actress. We can use her for the centennial play next year.

That new French restaurant on Blvd. St. Germain, is very good.

Terri Ranfone and Fred DeCicco dined at the Davenport Press. Terri has been chairperson of the Mineola Fair for a long time.

Marilyn Donnellan of White Road saw her grandson, Zachary, receive his first Bible at Corpus Christi school. He is the son of Darlene Enlis, Mr. and Mrs. Enlis also live on White Road.

The former Carol Mangold and Richie Burt, both originally from our village announced the birth of their first, Megan Marie on Sept. 9. She is the grand niece of Dolores Mangold of Wardwell Road.

A newcomer to Mineola is Lenny Rothengast of Roslyn Road. He worked on the overseas division of General Motors for 25 years.

Joe and Anne Tartaglia of Congress Ave., had breakfast at the new Hudson Diner on East 2nd Street. Joe is with the Water Department and is a huge Islander fan.

Our next door neighbor Blanche Paris was 101 years old on Oct. 6. That's the way to go Blanche.

Let's see now with the Bank of Commerce we have nine banks in Mineola, Citi, BCP, Astoria, Roslyn, Independence, Chase, Bank of New York and Bank of America. Wow, nine banks for 20,000 people.

Met Mike Gallo the other day. Mike was on the school board from 1985 to 1993.He is now a computer analyst with IBM.

Some people will collect anything. Imagine paying $600,000 for an old undershirt. Somebody did when they auctioned off that garment which was worn by Lord Nelson when he defeated the French fleet in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1810.
