A free concert at Chaminade will start our yearlong celebration of our 100th year on Jan. 29 with Lou Panacciulli's Nassau Pops orchestra. Neil Young and Margaret Ann Castrigno are working hard on the historical journal. They have collected many old photos of the village from years back and are now taking pictures of the same sites today to give you a now and then perspective. The Showtime Revue with Maryann O'Brien in charge will be held May 11, 12 and 13. Players will present skits showing each decade of the last century. Many actors and actresses are needed, no experience is required. Get in on the fun. The parade on Oct. 1, 2006 will have floats, bands, dancers and antique cars followed by fireworks behind the pool. The village ball will be on Nov. 17, 2006 at the Jericho Terrace. Sandy Pusey is in charge of the fashion show with many beautiful models to be held at the Knights Hall. A 1906 caboose will be placed in Memorial Park for the entire year. John Broder is in charge of fundraising. Merchants can advertise on banners on any of the 200 poles in the village. These banners will mark our centennial and will say sponsored by Willis Hobbies for example. The price of a banner is just $125 and the banner will stay on the pole for 18 months. Bob Hinck, John DaVanzo and Candie Maia are the chairpersons and Carl Marchese is in charge of finances. Tom Raad is planning the journal and tells me that ads are coming in at a rapid rate. The recently found time capsule will be opened in July 2006. Bill Uranek is getting a Vietnam helicopter to do a fly-over. Grace Jurek, the secretary, will announce the next meeting.
