Coats for Kids Kicks Off
Artie Epstein of Randi's Cleaners in Mineola, the Long Island leader of the Coats for Kids campaign, once again kicked off the campaign at Mineola Village Hall last week. The program has been highly successful in providing winter coats to those who need them and Epstein has been in the center of it all, leading the way for what has become at county-wide effort.

In response to the destruction that Hurricanes Katrina and Rita have left in their wake, New York State Senator Michael Balboni, chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs, asked the question of whether the metro area is prepared for a destructive hurricane.

It takes time for a JV coach to find out what kind of players are on the team and where to use them. Mineola High School boys JV soccer coach Al Cavalluzzo has a grasp on his team. Like the varsity team, Cavalluzzo's team is playing in a new and tougher conference this season. "We intend to be very competitive, but the quality of play in Conference ABC-II is very tough," he said.
