Hyman Scheinin died on Sept. 1, 2005 at age 96. He lived in East Hills from 1955 to 1999, and considered those to be wonderful years. On Long Island he raised a family, worked hard, and participated in many community activities. When he turned 90, Hy moved to the Philadelphia area, where he lived with his son and daughter-in-law. Hy was a track star, a craftsman, a teacher, a home builder, and a loyal family man. In his later years, he became an amazing storyteller, his memories reaching back vividly to the early 1900s. He was an unusually interesting person, and lived a long, rich life. Husband of the late Elaine. Father of Neil (Sandra) and Richard (Sara). Grandfather of Benjamin, Max, and Jesse. Services and burial were Sept. 4 on Long Island. Contributions in Hy's memory may be made to Abington Memorial Hospital Foundation, 1200 Old York Rd, Abington PA 19001.
Elizabeth R. Sheridan (nee Reilly), died in her 94th year on Sept. 9, 2005. She was a resident of Mineola for 53 years and a charter member of the Mineola Leisure Club. Wife of the late William S. Mother of Dennis J. (Barbara), Kevin (Victoria), Gerard A., Maryann and the late William J. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Park Funeral Chapels, Garden City Park. Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
