Jason Napolitano, president of Jay's World Childhood Cancer Foundation, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, announced that the first annual Jay's World "Walk with Me" event will be held at Mineola Memorial Park in Mineola. Dedicated volunteers, walkers and the directors of Jay's World will once again come together to continue in their mission "to raise funds to benefit children and help support the fight against childhood cancer." Those participating in the 3-mile walk will walk alongside a cancer survivor whose life has been changed by Jay's World. "Having cancer was the hardest thing I ever had to go though. It has made me who I am today and now I take the positive from this devastating disease to do what I do now to help other people," cancer survivor Jason Napolitano said. Registration is at 9 a.m., the walk begins at 10 a.m.

"It is our goal, to see that all that can be done is being done and that no child succumbs to the disease due to a lack of support," Jason Napolitano said, and added, "This is our pledge and to this end we are committed."

The foundation awards a scholarship each year to a student who has or has had cancer and is continuing on to college. These recipients are taking a journey that many thought would not be possible and against all odds are pursuing their dreams through college. Funds also support local hospitals that specialize in pediatric oncology and hematology and the children they are treating.

Put on your favorite walking shoes on Sept. 18 and join Jason Napolitano, volunteers and the staff of Jay's World Childhood Cancer Foundation, Inc. for a fun day and support a worthwhile cause at the same time. In addition, meet MSG and ESPN sports commentator and former goalie for the New York Cosmos, Shep Messing, and hear WOR radio's talent search finalist Michelle Raitzin sing the national anthem after opening ceremonies.
