With so much going on today in the headlines of the news about children and their safety, I was surprised to hear that "Safety" would be jeopardized within our very own school district. Transporting pre-K children within a carpool is something I know as a parent I would not want to take on the responsibility of, perhaps, three or four small children in my car twice a day.

With the cancellation of pre-K pickup, after-school programs and late buses, our children will be greatly affected, as well as the peace of mind of we as parents.

The placing of our children's safety within the dedicated, reliable, responsible, trustworthy hands of Mineola School District's bus drivers and aides is invaluable.

I am urging that our school board and superintendent rethink the budget before depriving our children of these superlative services.
