It may be summer but the Mineola School District has no vacation. There is much to accomplish for a district and board of education that will operate the 2005-2006 school year with a contingency budget.

When the proposed Mineola School District budget for the 2005-2006 school year was rejected by voters, the Mineola Board of Education decided to adopt a contingency budget. Before doing so, the board had to cut $1.8 million from its proposed budget. One of the casualties of the cuts was the Mineola High School fall play.

Mineola Pool Hosts First Splash Party
The Mineola Community Pool held its first "splash party" of the season Saturday, July 2. Family Fun Night was a huge success thanks to all those participating, especially D.J. Steve Griffin and the pool staff who had Mineola neighbors of all ages dancing and swimming under the stars until 10:30 p.m.
