On Sunday, May 8, the Mineola Storm U-11 boys soccer team played their second round of the Waldbaum's cup challenge against Albertson Aston Villa. The boys are working towards a repeat win of this cup won last year.

The game was, as usual, a team effort for the Storm. The speed of the forwards, Andre Cancelinha, Nick Marino, Caique Mello and Tommy Satalino were testing Albertson's defense with many shots on net.

The midfielders Killian Giannini, Patrick Keeler, Christian Lird and Paul Sandoval were relentless throughout the entire game. Their determination and skills paid off in the second half with the first goal scored by Nick Marino, the Storm rejoiced on the field. Shortly after, a second insurance goal was scored by Killian Giannini.

Defenders Tommy Breslin, Dennis Cruz and Tyler Kapela made sure as they did all game to remain impenetrable protecting their goalkeeper Philip Lima who preserved the shutout for the Storm for a well deserved win.

The team is currently undefeated in their regular season as well. Many thanks to coaches Anthony Marino, Scott Breslin and Pete. A special thanks to all the cheering parents!

This past weekend, the boys played Glen Cove for round three.
