Last Thursday, the Village of Mineola board of trustees passed a budget for the 2005-2006 fiscal year. The budget, which will be in effect from June 1, 2005 to May 31, 2006, represents an 8.9 percent tax increase over the 2004-2005 budget. FULL STORY

On Sunday, April 24, two of Mineola High School's Girls' Lacrosse Alumnae faced off against each other. Jamie Carter (Class of 2001), playing for Manhattan College's Lady Jaspers, took the field against Allison Carnabuci (Class of 2004), playing for the Red Foxes of Marist College. In a well-played game, Carter and the Lady Jaspers fought back from a four-goal half time deficit to defeat Marist 10-9 in the closing minutes of the game. The Mineola High School varsity baseball team opened its season in impressive fashion. The Mustangs rang up a record of 5-2 before ever entering conference play. The 2005 season began on a cold Saturday in March in Levittown. The result was nothing to warm the hearts of the Mustangs or their fans.
