Vinyseal 11
Teem Plumbing 1
Vinyseal opened the 2005 Little League season with a 11-1 win over Teem Plumbing. It marked the start of the 54th Little League season in Mineola.
Brendan Behan and Nick Rutigliano combined to throw a one-hitter and strike out 13 Plumbers. Behan showed us that he can also hit by going 3 for 3 and he scored three times. The big hit of the game came in the 5th inning. With the bases loaded, Dylan Dombrowski lined one over the first baseman's head; it went all the way to the right field fence. With the fans yelling, Dylan rounded the bases for an inside the park home run. In the field for the winners, Catcher Dombrowski picked off a runner at third, and second basemen, Zachary Englis made a nice play to his left and threw out the batter at first. Good luck to all the boys on a good season.

On a cold night, with the game tied at 2, Luke Escobar led off the 5th inning with a walk. William Luca followed with a walk, to put runners on first and second on the next pitch. Both runners stole, putting the go ahead run at third. With two outs and the night getting colder, Escobar sees the ball getting away from the catcher on a two and two pitch and races home with the go ahead run. Vinyseal goes on and scores 4 more in the 6th to clinch the victory. For Vinyseal, Robby Clarkin was on base 2 times and scored 2 runs. Dylan Dombrowski went 1 for 1 with 2 walks and scored 2 times. Once again Vinyseal's infield played well. On this night, third baseman Brendan Behan made two outstanding plays at third to Luke Escobar at first making the first two outs of the inning. Luke then took a line drive at first for the final out of the game. Vinyseal's players and coaches would like to wish a happy birthday to Zachary Englis and Robby Clarkin.
